Notifications Page and Notifications "Drop-Down" Window To "Mark All As Read"

Updated: Feb 22

One of the most common questions I get concerns "Notifications".

"How do I mark notifications as "Read". This question usually pertains to mobile devices but I'll go over it for Win 10 devices first.

Using your mouse or touchpad, clicking on the notification "Bell" Icon (no direct relation to me) directs you to the main "Notification" page.

There is no provision on this page to "Mark All As Read".

(That holds true for touch enabled mobile devices as well).

Use your mouse/touchpad to "Hover" over the Icon in the header.

The drop-down menu contains the "Mark All As Read" provision.

The same holds true for Touch enabled mobile devices but the method used to access the drop-down menu is different than for mouse/touchpad devices.

Simply keep your finger on the notification Icon until the drop-down menu appears

Select "Open In Background Tab"

Voila, the "Mark All As Read" provision is contained therein, along with the 10 most recent notifications,

So, the Notifications page is necessary if you want to access more than 10 past notifications, and the Notification drop-down is necessary if you want to "Mark All As read".

In addition, Members may select which class of notifications are displayed by clicking on the window below "Notifications" on the notifications page.

The default is:

"All Notifications"

Selecting:

"Ally Requests"

Only displays notifications from all Allies that agreed to connect with you and all "Pending" Ally requests sent to you.

Selecting:

"Post Interactions"

Only displays Notifications of "Upvotes" to your posts, of your "Comments & Replies" on all posts, "Comments & Replies" other members make on your post, and of all that "@Mention" you on all posts.
